International Flavors & Fragrances, Inc. (IFF) is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and health and biosciences. In collaboration with IFF’s Fresh & Fermented division, Hyperbolic developed a specialized platform to manage its bacteriophage sample service. By providing critical safeguards against contamination and enhancing the efficiency of yogurt and cheese production, this platform also enables IFF to gather valuable data on the spread of bacteriophage strains across international markets.
We replaced IFF’s fragmented bacteriophage testing workflows with a unified platform, integrating Salesforce for communication and an internal database for streamlined data. The modern web app simplified lab processes, improved collaboration, and delivered richer insights to customers, driving IFF’s global expansion.
The situation
As IFF continued to expand internationally, traditional workflows could no longer sufficiently support its bacteriophage testing operations. A disconnected legacy platform and paper-based processes made it increasingly difficult to keep pace, and data remained scattered across multiple systems with no unified way to correlate or synthesize it, ultimately leading to missed opportunities for valuable insights.
Solution
After a thorough discovery process that addressed the needs of both commercial and R&D teams, a platform was designed and implemented. Integrating Salesforce for customer communication, a modern, user-friendly web application was built that simplifies key workflows for the IFF lab worker. Test results are now easily managed and fulfilled, and customers gain access to rich, visually compelling reports. Integration with an internal bacteria culture database used across IFF teams ensures an unprecedented level of data quality.
