Scandlines serves millions of passengers and vehicles each year, offering reliable travel options and a commitment to environmental responsibility through their hybrid ferries and green initiatives.

We created an intuitive ferry booking app for Scandlines, streamlining ticket purchases, offering flexible routes, and integrating their loyalty program. Passengers now enjoy a user-friendly design, digital ticketing, and seamless check-in—all in one platform.

Situation

Scandlines, with 7.6 million passengers and nearly 2 million private cars annually, aimed to simplify journey planning through a digital solution. Recognizing the growing use of mobile devices for trip planning, the Scandinavian ferry company sought to enhance its existing loyalty app by integrating a modern booking platform. The task was to create an app that streamlined booking, offered alternative ferry routes, and provided seamless access to all Scandlines services.

Solution

Travel apps face the challenge of managing complex booking processes, and Scandlines is no exception, with over 42,000 annual crossings, multiple ticket options, and a loyalty program serving 550,000 members. The solution was to create a streamlined booking flow that adapts to various needs while maintaining data consistency. Key features include a digital ticket barcode for quick access, eliminating the need for paper tickets, and an integrated, user-friendly payment system for seamless transactions.
